A District Constable attached to the Safe Schools Programme in St. Catherine, was reportedly stabbed and seriously injured by a female student at a high school in the parish yesterday. He was admitted to hospital in serious condition, while the teenager was arrested and charged with wounding.

Reports indicate that at about 2 p.m. yesterday, the district constable was on duty at the school, when the teenager (whom he had earlier reprimanded) crept up to him and stabbed him in the neck.

Several schools in the St. Catherine North Division fall under the Safe Schools Programme, which (ironically), aims to instill discipline in the students.
