INDECOM Complains About Impediments To Its Work
According to a report in today’s Jamaica Observer newspaper, the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) — the organisation set up by government to investigate police excesses — had its workload increased by 92% in 2011, but says it continues to face challenges in effectively carrying out its duties. According to a press release issued by INDECOM’s Commissioner, Terrence Williams, “A key impediment to the work of the commission is the slow pace at which ballistic and forensic submissions to the forensic laboratory are processed. As a result, a significant number of cases cannot be completed” … more here
