Police Sergeant Arrested On Corruption Charges
A police sergeant from the Portland Division, has reportedly been arrested for breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act, following a sting operation that was carried out by the JCF’s Anti-Corruption Branch recently.
According to reports, the sergeant approached the accused in a particular case, and offered to dispose of the case in exchange for $50,000. The Anti-Corruption Branch was informed, and arrangements were made for the money to be paid to the sergeant. During a sting operation, the sergeant was caught collecting the money, and was subsequently arrested.
He is presently in custody, and a case file is reportedly being prepared for submission to the Director of Public Prosecutions for a ruling.
