Residents Challenge Police Story About March Pen Road Shooting Incident
Further to our recent item about a man of unsound mind who allegedly grabbed a gun from a policeman’s holster and was eventually shot and found dead, some residents of the area are reportedly claiming that the police’s version of the incident is not true.
Residents are claiming that the man – now identified as 32 year old James Hylton (aka ‘Pay’) – was murdered. According to the residents, the policemen were on duty when Hylton went into one of the service vehicles and turned on the siren. They say he was then ordered to get out of the vehicle, and after complying, was attacked by one of the policemen and a tussle developed. They allege that the policeman’s gun fell during the tussle and that Hylton grabbed it and fired several shots in the air.
They allege that Hylton then ran off, but was shot in the shoulder and fell in the canal. They further allege, that the police then went into the canal, and that one of them held Hylton under the water and drowned him.
The policeman’s gun that went missing during the incident has still not been found.
