Policeman Freed Of Corruption Charge

A policeman (Dennis Reid of the Spanish Town Police Station) and a wrecker driver (Rohan Thomas), were freed of corruption charges in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate’s Court yesterday, after a successful no-case submission was upheld.

The court had heard that in September 2008, the complainant reported that money was collected by Thomas on behalf of Reid. An investigation resulted in both men being charged with breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act.

Their lawyers were however able to convince the court that the crown failed to fully establish a prima facie case against their clients. This was upheld by Resident Magistrate Ann-Marie Nembhard.
