Policeman Charged With Attempted Rape
In April we reported that a policeman attached to the Constant Spring Police Station was being investigated for an alleged attempted rape of a woman that he was transporting from a wake. The policeman (a constable), was reportedly arrested and charged last week, after the case file was sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions, who ruled that he should be charged.
On Friday (June 18), the policeman was offered bail in the sum of J$250,000 when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court. He was granted bail on condition that he surrender his travel documents. A stop order has also been placed on him at all ports of exits. He is to return to court for trial on September 9.
