Alton Bennett, a 47 year old District Constable who was arrested recently on corruption charges – for allegedly soliciting money from an accused man to sign his bail book in advance, without him visiting the police station – was granted bail in the sum of J$200,000 when he appeared recently in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court. He is to return to court on July 30, when the case will be heard once again.
