Crime Stop Offers Reward For Killers Of Westmoreland Cop
In August 2009, we reported on an incident where 56 year old Special Corporal Anthony Simpson, was shot and killed in Westmoreland. His son, who was with him at the time, was injured during the incident. One of his alleged killers was later killed in a shoot out with the police, but Crime Stop is now offering a J$250,00 for any information which leads to an arrest and charge of additional persons. Here are the details:
Victim – Anthony Simpson, special corporal attached to the Island Special Constabulary Force ‘J’ Company, and Anthony Simpson Jr., 25 year old martial arts instructor, both of Meyler’s Avenue, Savanna-la-mar, Westmoreland.
Type of case – murder / wounding with intent / robbery
Date & time – at about 12:15 a.m. on the 2nd August, 2009.
Place – Lumberyard on Station Road, Little London, Westmoreland.
Report – After Davidson’s Lumber Yard owner, Stanley Davidson, was shot and killed by gunmen at his home on Station Road, Little London, on 16th July, 2009, Sp. Cpl. Simpson offered security at the lumber yard between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. nightly along with his son, Anthony Simpson Jr. Sp. Cpl. Simpson was the owner of a licensed 9mm Desert Eagle Pistol (S/N 33310527) which he carried at all times.
On the night in question, father and son were sitting in Sp. Cpl. Simpson’s Toyota Altis motorcar registered 2567 EP watching the lumber yard, when the car was suddenly surrounded by five armed men. Guns were pointed at their heads, and Sp. Cpl. Simpson’s firearm was demanded. As soon as the firearm was handed over, several shots were fired, hitting the son in his jaw and neck, and two shots hitting Sp. Cpl. Simpson in the chest. The gunmen left the scene.
Anthony Simpson Jr. was able to get to his car, and drive to the Little London police, who assisted him back to the lumber yard. He was taken to the hospital, where he learnt that his father had died on the spot.
Reward – Crime Stop and concerned citizens are offering a reward totalling $250,00 for information leading to the arrest and charge of the persons responsible for the murder of Sp. Cpl. Anthony Simpson, and the wounding of Anthony Simpson Jr.
Police action – the police, unable to make a breakthrough in the case, are asking for the public’s assistance in bringing those responsible to justice.
