Controversial Police Killings In Back Bush
Three alleged gunmen were killed by the police under controversial circumstances in the Back Bush community off Mountain View Avenue yesterday. According to the police, they went to the community in search of the men who ambushed a police team on Sunday night, killing two cops and wounding six others. They allege that they entered a premises and were greeted by gunfire. They returned fire and three men were later found with gunshot wounds. Two illegal firearms were allegedly seized, and the men pronounced dead at hospital.
Residents of the area have however challenged the police’s claims, and are instead claiming that the men were in a yard when the police kicked open the gate and opened fire, hitting the three. The residents claimed that one of the men had just entered the community to visit his child’s mother.
The police have not yet confirmed the identities of the dead men.
