Policeman Shot & Injured In Montego Bay
A policeman was shot and injured yesterday, during a shoot out with a gunman on Barnett Street in Montego Bay.
According to police reports, at about 5:40 p.m. yesterday, a man entered a store on Barnett Street asking that his cellphone be repaired. He reportedly brandished a gun, and proceeded to hold up other persons in the store. He was challenged by a nearby policeman, and a shoot-out ensued. The policeman who was subsequently joined by other officers was shot and injured. The gunman was also shot during the gun battle.
Both men were taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where the gunman was pronounced dead and the policeman was treated and released.
