Angry residents of Ashley Road, located off Spanish Town Road in Kingston, protested yesterday against the fatal shooting by the police of a man who they described as a “leader” in their community.

The dead man, identified by residents by his nickname, “Ole House” (and said to be in his 30s), was reportedly shot at around midday by police, who (according to the residents) just minutes before his death were drinking with him at his bar.

According to the residents, three policemen were drinking with the man inside the bar, and when they had left, another set of police came, and although he had put his hands in the air, residents allege that the police simply started to shoot him up.

No official release on this matter has been forthcoming from the police at this time.
