Policeman Killed, Another Injured In Vehicle Accident
45 year old Constable David Benloss, of the Black River Police Station in St. Elizabeth, was reportedly killed in a motor vehicle accident along the Goshen main road in that parish yesterday. His colleague, Sergeant Lincent Smith, who was in the marked police vehicle with Benloss, sustained multiple injuries and was admitted to the Mandeville hospital in serious condition.
According to reports, Benloss and Smith were traveling in the police vehicle towards Santa Cruz. They were reportedly hit head-on by a Toyota Hiace bus that was traveling in the opposite direction. Both policemen and the driver of the bus were taken to the Mandeville hospital where Benloss succumbed to his injuries. The bus driver was admitted to hospital in stable condition.

It is my hope that the Law Enforcement Department start to make examples out of these motorist that has no regards to the life of others, then and only then they will begin to drive as if they value life.

I would just love to express my disgust at the hopspital in the manner of how the officer was treated and how long it took for an x-ray to be done the mandeville hospital need a shake up if it was more serious on his part they both would have died
