Police Constable Killed In Clarendon
36-year-old Constable Steve Brown of the Mobile Reserve unit, became the 10th police personnel to be murdered this year, when he was shot and killed in Clarendon yesterday.
According to police reports, just after 11 a.m., Brown and a passenger (Emmanuel Wallace) were driving and made a stop on the Hunts Pen main road along the Bustamante Highway in Clarendon. They were reportedly approached by three men who got out of a car and opened fire on them, hitting both men. Brown died at hospital, while Wallace was said to be seriously injured. The gunmen apparently escaped with Brown’s Glock service pistol.
Brown and Wallace had reportedly just left the May Pen Gun Court where Wallace answered to charges of illegal possession of a firearm, and assault at common law. Brown had transported Wallace to Clarendon, and they were driving back to Kingston when the incident occured.
