194 Police Personnel Transferred Yesterday
Acting Commissioner of Police Owen Ellington ordered yesterday, the transfer of 194 police personnel, including 130 from the rank and file, to various divisions of the constabulary. The transfers were published in the Force Orders that were released yesterday.
Among the notable transfers is that of Superintendent Derrick ‘Cowboy’ Knight, who has been transferred fr0m Area Four Headquarters to take up command of the Half-Way-Tree based St. Andrew Central Division. Superintendent Steve McGregor has been transferred from the Motorised Patrol Division to the Mobile Reserve. In total, seven superintendents have been transferred in this latest move.
The Motorised Patrol Division has received a significant boost, as 63 of the 194 transfers are to that division, including two deputy superintendents, six inspectors and 55 lower ranks – suggesting that Ellington plans to increase the police presence on the roads.
Acting Deputy Superintendent Carlos Bell, who had that now infamous run in with Member of Parliament for West St. Thomas, James Robertson, was not confirmed to the Deputy Superintendent post, and will now work as an inspector in uniform at the Kingston Central Police Division.
