Special Corporal Murdered In Westmoreland
56 year old Special Corporal Anthony Simpson, who was attached to the Island Special Constabulary Force (ISCF) in Westmoreland, was shot and killed yesterday morning on Station Road in Little London, Westmoreland. His 25-year-old son, who was with him at the time, was also shot and injured during the incident. He was admitted to hospital in stable condition. Simpson was reportedly on vacation from the ISCF, and working as a private security officer at the time of the incident
Police reports indicate that both were sitting in a motor vehicle at approximately 12:15 a.m., when they were approached by three men. The men reportedly pulled firearms and robbed Simpson of his pistol; they then opened fire before escaping. Simpson died on the spot, while his son was later admitted to hospital in stable condition.
His murder brings to seven the number of Jamaican police officers killed in 2009 to date.
