New Bath Police Station Opens
A new police station, which was constructed at a cost of approximately J$70 million, was opened yesterday in Bath. St. Thomas, by Minister of National Security Senator Dwight Nelson.
The spacious 5,427-square-ft station, was completed in May of this year, and boasts several modern amenities, including porcelain tiles, an automatic fire alarm system and a water proofing and insulation mechanism. It is divided into three areas – an administrative block, the cell block and the barracks.
The administrative block comprises a reception area; two interviewing rooms; station officers’ office; Criminal Investigations Branch office; a server room; armory; traffic office; three rest rooms; briefing room; and radio room. The barracks has both male and female police officers’ bathrooms and laundry area.
The cell block houses 12 cells (each with its own toilet) which can accommodate a minimum of 36 persons. The cell block also has a doctor’s office; identification room and a service area.
The new police station also has a generator and exhibit room, impound area, car park and a garbage area.
