Robert O’Riley Cole, an ex-policeman who has reportedly been on the run since October 2001, was among 76 deportees who arrived on a special charter flight from the United States yesterday, and he was immediately arrested upon his arrival at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.

Cole had been implicated in a shooting incident which took place in Seaview Gardens, Kingston, on June 15, 2000. During the incident, two men were shot and killed and another two were injured. It was investigated by the Bureau of Special Investigations and the Director of Public Prosecutions had ruled that Cole be charged with two counts of murder and two counts of wounding with intent.
