July 1, 1954 – instead of the usual procedure of taking the name and license number of motorists and cyclists who are found guilty of minor road offences, Jamaica’s police are now issuing traffic safety tickets courtesy of the Jamaica Constabulary and the Action Committee of the Road Safety Campaign.
