Jamaican Police Slow To Deal With Cases Of Sexual Abuse Involving Children?
Are Jamaican police slow to deal with cases of incest and other forms of sexual abuse against children? Maybe … Education Minister, Andrew Holness, has reportedly asked National Security Minister, Dwight Nelson, to investigate allegations of tardiness by the police in dealing with such matters.
Holness told primary school principals from St. Mary, St. Thomas and Portland at a retreat and conference at the Starfish Resort over the weekend that, “we met with the Ministry of National Security and I have handed him (Nelson) a memorandum of understanding (MOU), which he is reviewing, and he has publicly said that he will deal with the matter.”
Some principals claimed that the police were not doing their jobs, hence Holness’ response to the matter.
