Jamaican Forensic Crime Scene Investigators Graduate

57 forensic crime scene investigators graduated yesterday from a year-long course which took place at the Jamaica Constabulary Staff (JCF) College in Twickenham Park, St. Catherine. The course exposed the officers to a variety of techniques including blood pattern analysis, biological evidence analysis and crime scene photography. 58 persons graduated from the course last year.

The new graduates are expected to provide a major boost to the JCF’s investigative capabilities, and push the force a step closer to reaching the goal of recruiting 300 investigators islandwide. Currently, there are just over 120 forensic crime scene investigators islandwide. The JCF is reportedly looking at recruiting civilians and university graduates in order to reach the targeted number.

The newly trained officers were trained at international forensic investigation standards, and are capable of utilizing international techniques and equipment.
