Police Car Crashes Into House

An unmarked Toyota Corolla motor car that was part of the fleet of service vehicles used by the Greater Portmore Police, reportedly crashed into a house in Greater Portmore, St. Catherine, at approximately 7 a.m. yesterday morning. Strangely though, the police were unable to ascertain the identity of the driver, who allegedly fled the scene of the accident. Observant residents have however alleged that the driver of the vehicle was a policeman who works at the Greater Portmore Police Station. They said he got out of the vehicle, pretended to be injured and then slipped away unnoticed.

The occupants of the house were uninjured during the incident, but the house received serious damage – specifically a security grill, parts of a wall, the verandah, as well as several appliances and items of furniture.

If the policeman is identified and found to have committed the offence, he is likely to face several criminal and departmental charges including dangerous and reckless driving, driving away a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent and failing to report an accident.
