June 9 in Jamaican Police History
June 9, 1950 – the scheme introduced two years ago to employ women as police has been so successful that it is now proposed to increase the number of Jamaican women police from three to nine. Provision is included in the estimate for the policewomen staff to be increased to one sergeant, one corporal, one first-class constable and six second-class constables.
