Albion Lane Residents Protest Police Killing

Residents of the Albion Lane community in Montego Bay, St. James, were out in numbers yesterday, protesting a shooting incident involving the police which left a 17-year-old youth and an alleged insane man dead. The youth was a student at the Cambridge High School, while the alleged insane man was identified as Dwayne Cole, a man who was reportedly released from prison recently.

According to police reports, a police party was on an operation in the community, when they came under fire from a group of men. During a shoot-out, the two were hit and a .38 revolver with four live rounds was taken from one of the men.

Angry residents are however claiming that the men were murdered and had no gun in their possession. Member of Parliament, Dr Horace Chang (also the Water and Housing Minister) visited the area and promised to assist in having the Police Complaints Authority examine the matter, as well as seek legal assistance for the victims.
