Manchester Police Urges Citizens To Help
With the active migration of criminals from Kingston and other urban centres to their parish, the Manchester police are actively urging ordinary citizens to help by reporting the presence of strangers in their communities.
Deputy Superintendent Barrington Daley, the man in charge of criminal investigations in the parish, reportedly said “We would like to ask citizens in Manchester to report strange persons they see in their areas. We are saying if you see somebody in your community who you don’t know and you don’t know what he is doing there, take up the phone and call the police and we will check it out. We want to assure people that we would not consider such reports to be idle or a waste of time. We have unmarked vehicles that would respond to reports… we would investigate. .We are imploring citizens to get on board and call the police whenever you see anybody looking strange and suspicious.”
He believes that such proactive behavior on the part of the citizens could, over time, go a far way in deterring criminals. Since the start of 2009, the parish of Manchester has had increased criminal activity in a number of areas including rape, carnal abuse and robbery.
