Man Pleads Not Guilty To Assaulting Constable
Kemsha Butler plead not guilty in the Old Harbour Resident Magistrate’s Court earlier this week, where he appeared on a charge of assault at common law for allegedly pulling a machete and threatening a female special constable. Butler reportedly accused the constable of collecting money for him and not handing it over, and pulled a machete and threatened her in the process. The matter was reported to the police and he was arrested.
In his defence in court, Butler alleged that the woman had actually defrauded him after he had given her permission to use his credit card. The incident occurred when he attempted to get back the money. His J$40K station bail was extended and the case adjourned until April 30 when it will be heard again.
