Government To Recruit Additional District Constables
The Jamaican Government will reportedly embark on a major recruitment drive for district constables (DCs) this year. Figures contained in the 2009-2010 Estimates of Expenditure for the national budget indicate that Government is proposing to spend J$2.1 billion on the training of DCs, up from $890 million last year.
Minister of National Security, Dwight Nelson, also said recently that the Government “is on a recruiting programme where we are recruiting over 500 new DCs“. He also said that the DCs would be wearing uniforms and that some would be deployed to schools.

Yes, more District Constables are needed. Hopefully, after training they do not become corrupted.

very good idea ,but more is needed especially in high schools,coastal fishing and some rural communities ASAP. Also there should be a career path put in placed
for these basic police force (DC) to move to the JCF or THE ISCF.

they say they want more dc and all now the one that have been waiting for training from earlier in the year have not started. they just running their lips just to be heard.

It was posted by the Ministry of Security that he going to recruit 500 DC but when you call no one can tell you when is the next recruiting because thay are still dealing with the batch from December Ad we need to no more thanks you. Could someone get some answers for person that is interested please ?

Ann, they have not even called back the ones from december. i would be really surprised if they were to start recruiting anytime soon. the last time i herad from them was in march and i only had chest exam left before training. they dont seem to give a dam about the DC’s.
