April 25 in Jamaican Police History
April 25, 1939 – As of today, policemen will all be armed at nights. No policeman is allowed to go on night patrol duty without being armed with a service revolver. The new directive comes after a young sub-officer was shot while patrolling Harbour Street one night the previous week.
