Government Acquiring Seven Mobile Forensic Units For The Police
As part of an ongoing upgrading of the police’s evidence-gathering capabilities, the Jamaican Government will be acquiring seven mobile forensic units. These will hopefully allow for more speedy collection of samples at crime scenes.
The mobile units cost US$85,000 each, and the cost of five of these vehicles will actually be paid by the British Government, which has been working closely with Jamaica to modernize the constabulary.
The order for the vehicles is now before the National Contracts Committee, and they are expected to arrive in the island approximately four months after the committee grants its approval.
