Policeman Being Questioned About Wife’s Death
A police constable attached to the Police Control Centre (Old Hope Road, Kingston) was taken into custody yesterday for questioning, following the shooting death of his common-law wife. The incident reportedly took place at their home in Greater Portmore, St. Catherine in the wee hours yesterday morning.
According to police reports, the couple were arguing when the woman allegedly took up the policeman’s service revolver and advanced towards him. The constable reportedly held unto the weapon in an effort to wrestle it from her, and it is alleged that she was shot during the struggle. He took her to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The policeman, whose name is being withheld, has not been charged, but is being held in custody for interrogation by the Bureau of Special Investigation (BSI). It is expected that formal charges will be laid on him tomorrow (February 23).
