Journalist says Policemen Threatened to Kill Him
Assistant business editor at the Jamaica Observer newspaper, Mr. Julian Richardson, has reportedly made an official report that two policemen threatened to kill him, this after he refused to buy them refreshments in exchange for dropping the charges for a traffic offense which they were alleging he was guilty of.
The incident reportedly happened last Saturday (February 14) in the Manor Park area of St. Andrew. Mr. Richardson said the policemen ordered him to pull over, then informed him that he would be charged for for obstructing traffic, an offense he reportedly insists he is not guilty of. According to Mr. Richardson, the policemen then offered to drop those charges if he bought them refreshments. He said he refused and told them that he would be reporting the matter to their superiors, at which point they threatened to kill him.
The JCF’s Anti-Corruption unit is reportedly investigating the matter.
