Changes Coming For Jamaica’s Police Force
Commissioner of police, Rear Admiral Hardley, Lewin has indicated that the strategic review of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) was complete and that changes would stem from it. “We have started a journey to transform and cleanse our police force,” Lewin said during his keynote address at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica’s 44th Anniversary Luncheon held recently in Montego Bay.
“It (the JCF Strategic Review) looks at five themes by which the force must fix itself: culture must be worked on, corruption, accountability, leadership, and management and professionalisation. The easy part is, of course, to do the study and to present the documents. Now comes that national difficult part that you all know of – implementation of recommendations, because we have a history of non-implementation.” Lewin said.
