Policeman Transferred Because of Political Interference?
The leadership of the police force is denying reports that the recent transfer of Inspector Carlos Bell (who was the acting Crime Chief in St. Thomas) from St. Thomas to St. Catherine is as a result of the recent and ongoing controversy involving Member of Parliament, James Robertson.
Inspector Bell was informed on Monday (January 5) that he would be transferred to St. Catherine, coming just two days after the controversy with MP Robertson, and statements that the St. Thomas police would be issuing summonses for Robertson to face the Court on various misdemeanour charges stemming from his reported altercation with members of a police party in St. Thomas on Saturday.
Head of the Area Five Police, Assistant Commissioner Leon Rose, stated yesterday "I have never and will never take instructions from any politician … the fact is that Bell’s transfer is temporary and not based on any directive from any politician."
