Court of Appeal Upholds PSC Descision to Retire Certain Cops
The Court of Appeal yesterday dismissed the appeal of 11 Jamaica Constabulary Force police officers who were served notices in December 2005 by the Police Services Commission (PSC) that they were to be retired in the public interest (for alleged criminal activities including drug smuggling).
The policemen had been challenging the PSC’s decision, and were ordered to remain on the job throughout the appeal hearings. They are now however, officially retired. Some were attached to the Narcotics Division’s branch in Montego Bay, while others were attached to other police units in Montego Bat. They names of the police officers are Detective Sergeant Dalton Samuels; Corporal Norma Porter-Thaxter; Detective Corporal Ryan Dwyer; corporals Enos Williams, Teeshan Gordon and Joy Streete; and constables Kenneth Brown, Oral Hylton, Owen Condell, Dwayne Mullings and Elvid Vassell.

How can you retire persons on merely allegations. Doesnt natural justice and our laws of the land dictates that that accusors should proove his case without a doubt? So how can you retire them when your sources are hidden? How will they get the opportunity to defend themselves? Talk about justice….. ha!!!!
