Policeman Charged With Wife’s Murder

Constable Raymond Campbell, who was formerly attached to the St James Police Division, was charged yesterday with the murder of his wife, Kerry-Ann Brown-Campbell, who went missing in August 2007, and whose burnt remains were found in Belmont, St. James several days after she had gone missing. Officially, he has been charged with murder and conspiracy to murder his wife, as investigations so far have indicated that he had colluded with person(s) to murder his wife. The couple were married less than a month before she went missing.

Investigators are reportedly interviewing a number of persons at this time, persons whom they believe can assist in the investigations. Campbell is to face the court as soon as the Director of Public Prosecutions makes a ruling.

The constable was also charged earlier with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition and shooting at a police party, after he was allegedly involved in a shoot-out with the police in Amity Hall, St. James. He was later found in possession of his firearm and an illegal firearm. He is also being investigated in relation to the murder of Waldane Scott, who was shot dead on January 14, 2007.
